I’m a wife, mother, educator, and self-help junkie. I have a love for learning, giggling with my grandsons and tandem biking with my husband. I believe wisdom goes beyond being smart or having basic knowledge. Our culmination of experiences helps us in our journey to become. While each of our challenges may be unique, we have the opportunity to choose how we will react, learn and grow. My journey has taught me that I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a voice to share what I’ve learned. Life can either teach us or defeat us – the choice is ours.
The people of this small town and its surrounding areas taught me that focusing on the needs of others, serving and giving are the best antidotes to any negative situation. Real people giving in a real way was very inspiring to me.
At times I think my kids thought I was the meanest mom in the world, and I guess I am okay with that. They know I love them no matter what, but they also know that I want them to be the best they can be.
As I reached the top my daughter saw my labored breathing. I told her that I felt sick and thought I was going to pass out, to which she replied “Mom you’ve just got to breathe.”
Are we sensitive enough to notice when one drop of poison might be destroying our attitude, fostering frustration, or giving way to ingratitude? It is being able to perceive the small changes and choosing how we will let it affect us.
We enter life with the ability to think, reason, and to achieve – with minds that have greater power then we allow ourselves to believe.
As the sun first peaked over the skyline it offered a bright light to our journey, but nothing compared to what we could see from the top. Life is full of opportunities to seek after and pursue the things that matter the most to us.
In my journey of the last half a century I’ve learned a few things along the way. Some of those life lessons have come more easily than others, but one constant that I’ve come to understand is that we always have a choice.
